Seattle

Ah Seattle… I have fond memories of this city. Back in 2015, Seattle was the location of my first solo trip (sort of… I did meet up with friends while there). This time around, while picking a destination for a short weekend getaway, Seattle seemed like the perfect choice. I didn't do any of the touristy things the first time around and I thought it would be nice to see my friends again. So the plane tickets were bought and the planning began.

In preparing for the trip, we asked friends for recommendations of things to do/see in Seattle. One of our friends was kind enough to share a google doc of their trip to Seattle not too long ago. I loved how much it helped organized the trip at one central location, so I created a google doc, tweaked the format a bit, and the first step was done. I broke it down into 5 tabs, Activities, Tentative Itinerary, Lodging, Packing list, and $$$$.
Under Activities, I created a table to organize all the things I wanted to do in Seattle. My list included, food, drink, dessert, sightseeing, nature/active, and speakeasy/drinking/night activities. See a peek at my food list below :P

While I absolutely loved planning out my whole trip, I will give one word of warning. There is such a thing as over planning. It's something I am very much so guilty of at times. It is very easy to get sucked into endless google searches and Top 10 things to do in _____ lists, with each new article you read adding 5 more things to your to do list. Part of the fun of traveling can sometimes be the magic of doing something spontaneously.

There are definitely pros and cons to planning out a trip in detail. Some people love it while others hate it. I personally like knowing what there is to do and what days I want to go certain places. My advice if you're like me is, to leave some wiggle room for the magic to find you during your trip. When you start to plan every minute everyday of your trip, you tend to limit yourself to what you can discover in a new place.
With love,
Eva
