A Surprise in NYC
In September, @imokura_md_ surprised me with a trip to New York. Well, if he told the story, he’d complain that I figured it out beforehand. We have a shared desktop in the office and I may or may not have seen some restaurant reservation requests…
As you may know, @imokura_md_ lived in Philadelphia when we met. Two days before the surprise trip, he comes home from work and says he last minute needs to go back to Philly to sign off on some real estate documents. I suspected we were going to NYC, but I had been waiting to see how he would play it off. I can’t keep a secret and tried to play along as long as I could, asking if he needed me to book plane tickets for him to PHL. Needless to say he got suspicious real fast and I had to admit I had an inkling we were going to New York but wasn’t sure if it was really going to happen. I swore that was all I knew though, that there was a possibility we would be going on a weekend trip. So I packed our bags and we flew to New York for one of the best weekend trips ever.
After landing at the airport we took the train to our hotel to freshen up. Knowing how much I love taking photos, @imokura_md_ said the first surprise was a photoshoot at Times Square. We met up with the photographer and started taking photos around the area. Our exploring took us to the Rockefeller Center and up the "Top of the Rock".
It was there while we were taking photos @imokura_md popped the question! I’m glad I have the photo proof he got down on one knee because I swear he was down and up within seconds. As soon as he went down, the crowds up top started cheering, making @imokura_md nervous from all the attention. I thank him for being brave though because I couldn’t have imagined it any more perfect. Of course I said yes!
We spent the rest of the night celebrating and the next day revisiting the same spots we went on our first New York trip together. On the flight home we even had some celebratory champagne in flight! All in all it was a magical weekend I’ll remember forever.
